Chi Psi was founded May 20, 1841 at Union College in Schenectady, NY. For the next 145 years, Alphas were founded at colleges all across America, eventually reaching Winston-Salem in 1986.

For the last 25 years, individuals from all over have pledged themselves to Chi Psi where they have formed life-long frienships, gained valuable leadership experience, and been instilled with the qualities of a true gentleman.

The members of the Wake Forest Alpha of Chi Psi strive for academic and social excellence while balancing everything college life has to offer. Our members enjoy tailgating before football games and are a strong presence in the stands. We are also involved in many on campus organizations, such as The Lilting Banshees, Fishing Club, and the Club Golf Team as well as off-campus organizations like youth ministry. We also work closely with the school's newspaper, The Old Gold and Black, by delivering the papers for them. Philanthropy is also a big part of Chi Psi and each fall we host a charity event on the lower quad known as "Ride for Life" to benefit the Juvenile Diabeties Foundation.

Our members strive to develop and practice characteristics of the True Gentleman, attributes that go beyond typical southern charm.  Maturity, charity, and leadership play a specific role in the life of every brother, whether they are at a party, in the classroom, or serving in campus organizations.
"For the cultivation of true friendship, then, for mutual protection and advancement in intellectual, moral, and social life..."
